I fell in love with this song in 1989, doing the dishes in Belfast. I got the tape from an Italian friend. Shame on me but I (still) don't speak Italian. Could someone tell me what this magical song is about, per favore? Mille grazie.
It talks about the effort of the author who is trying to compose the song, wich is a milonga -a sort of tango- He uses metaphor imagining to be in a savana following a zebra "up to the white lakes of silence".Difficult to traslate, but i hope you've understood the sense of this wonderful song. Ciao Renato
Hi Renato, thanks a lot for the translation!! Even if I'm not quite sure that I fully understand what Conte is saying (same goes, by the way, for the lyrics of "Max" which I found a translation of lately), I very much enjoy his poetry and humour in both music and words. He's a wonderful artist.
