Well guess you understood what I meant but you misunderstood one thing, my fault actually cause Metallica was just an example, I agree that Metallica is a great band. :) But I just love arguing with one of my buddies since he ain't a real Metallica fan he just listens to them because everyone else does, but he defends their "honor" with hes life. ;) personally I'm quite open for all kinds of music, metal is just favorite...

very true but on the other hand. when you want to hate something you don't see the good sites anymore. If any other band brought out albums like death magnetic the whole metal world would have loved it. but because it's metallica a lot of people just want to hate it,. but besides that you are very right. I should stop the arguing about metallica . I like em, that's enough. and we talked way to much about metallica under this Maiden classic. so we shoulden't be discussing this, hail maiden

facts are you can't discuss bands/songs with someone who likes a band you think aren't as good as your favorite band... I'm a Maiden "blood fan", and i gave up discussing with metallica fans years ago... truth is that when you like someone/something really good you can't see the bad sides :P

Minimal technical skill? Sure, Kirk and Lars get worse with age, but James and Robert are excellent musicians. Sellouts? Wow, a thrash band decides they want to progress and release something more melodic. Big fucking deal. Megadeth did it, too. Anthrax did it, too, but they were more melodic from the start. And you never see them called sellouts (well, maybe Megadeth over Risk.)

It's not just going mainstream that makes a band sellouts (a common misconception). It's the fact that they've become so ridiculously involved with MTV and have become corporate, money-hungry pigs who care more about money than their fans or the music. Since the black album was released (AKA, since they went mainstream), they've released 4 albums in 18 years. That shows how interested they really are in making music. Nah, making video games and shit documentaries are more important.

One flaw: ...And Justice for All was their breakthrough album. Not the Black Album. Top 10 on the Billboard chart doesn't lie. Neither does the fact that they were filling up STADIUMS on that tour. Watch the Seattle concert on Live Shit.

Oh, and as heavily as they toured in the 90s, I'm not surprised they only put out three albums plus Garage Inc. Nor does it surprise me that they've only put out two albums this decade. They're not spring chickens anymore and still tour quite a bit.
