Woodrow Wilson was liberal and was an extreme racist so liberal doesn't mean your automatically excluded from being racist that is oversimplified statement like all liberals are stupid which is false. General statements such as these should be avoided.

Stewart enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a private before Pearl Harbor, earlier in 1941 (after twice failing his physical for being underweight).

By war's end, Stewart had risen to the rank of colonel and been awarded two DFCs and an Air Medal with three Oak Clusters. In 1959 he attained the rank of Brigadier General in the USAF Reserves.

This brief thumbnail hardly scratches the surface of this distinguished American, actor - and human being. Fans would do well to look up his biography.
