Heres a virtual movie of Oscar Wilde reading a stanza of his poem "The Ballad of Reading Gaol".
The audio part of this virtual movie was supposedly recorded whilst Oscar Wilde was living in Paris at a stand dedicated to the inventions of the great Thomas Edison in the American paviliion at the International Exposition in Paris in 1900, though many experts consider this recording to be a forgery. despite the scepticism and debate surrounding this fascinating piece of audible historiana perhaps we can for a few moments suspend any disbelief and believe it to be the nearest we shall ever get to hearing the actual voice of this brilliant and much celebrated man.
Kind Regards

In Reading gaol by Reading town There is a pit of shame, And in it lies a wretched man Eaten by teeth of flame, In burning winding-sheet he lies, And his grave has got no name.

oh... my God... Oscar Lives! This really has given me a strange day feeling today. I've always believed that to be his voice..and now he is somehow brought back... **shiver** Thanks so much for creating this.
Wow, clever and spooky! The Ballad of Reading Gaol is my most favourite piece by Oscar Wilde. It's such a sad work but deeply emotional, with such deep meaning ad of course deeply poetic.
