A tangible rhythm sequencer. Ball bearings are used to trigger (Roland TR-808) drum sounds. Visual feedback is provided from a CRT display underneath to indicate the current time and the state of each beat.

This version is a very stripped down research prototype, so there's no hardware tempo control. You can easily adjust the tempo with software though, and it's easy to add a dedicated knob/slider if you want to build you own version (see the BeatBearing website for link to MAKEzine instructions)
