Your sense of economics is fucked up. For one, the cost of widing up highways or expanding airports is no way even close to that of this hairbrained project. This project will probably not be completed, and if it does, will end up costing triple what they say it would. There are unforeseen costs that Prop 1A does not take into account.

What traffic accidents? If we bring in Shinkansen technology the chances of that are zero. It's never happened to them. X-crossings? The idea is to rebuild the crossings in question so that those don't exist so that trains can actually run on time.

Either someone's blind or they're lying through their teeth here. $39 R/T? Missed a 1 in front, perhaps? And not to mention the TSA's antics leave me more scared than 9/11. I'd rather sit on a train next to "some smelly stranger" for 3 hours rather than do it for one hour on a plane after being violated by airport security both ways.
