Back home after 54 days on the Silk Road. It is magical and more besides. Not perhaps always romantic, sometimes a grind but when you are in the desert, you dream

you're back.! how was it? How far did you go? did you meet the many interesting people like the documentary's show to us? have many of them changed; behavior, culture, thinking, etc, from the past?

Beijing and all the way to Tehran across mountains, through cities and deserts, valleys and all the rest. People were amazing and none more friendly than in Iran. You have to see the Tibetan enclave in Xiahe, China, the moutains of Kyrgyzstan, Persepolis, the terra-cotta warriors, the end of the Wall in Jiayuguan, the ruins of Merv, the mausoleum of Imam Reza in Mashad. But in the end, it's the people for they were simply lovely. I hugged them and they hugged me.

ah, so good. are you going to do it again?

No, I have only ever repeated one holiday and that was Antarctica - see my videos - for that is the most beautiful place on Earth. Next trip is West Africa - Cameroon to Sengegal and the countries in between. 10 weeks in all if I don't get shot or kidnapped.

This was the first Kitaro tape I ever heard. I still have the tape. Amazing music!
