Janne Mertanen plays Satie

I usually don't like piano or classical that much but 5 stars.this performance was almost macabre.

I think this is awesome, I've never seen someone place this piece before.
I love Satie's stuff so much that I learnt a few of his pieces on guitar.... if only I could play piano.

I have to agree that it's too fast.

the two cannot be compared. the gymnopaedie were specifically written to be background music. this is an eerie dance from a dark ancient city

Way too much rubato, which puts a pompous feel into the piece. I feel that even though these are emotional and eerie pieces, these aspects should be balanced with a touch of mischeviousness and wit that reflects the genius of Erik Satie, a sublime musical joker.
