On the STI, the intercooler is on the top of the engine, its not front mounted. The intake is actually above the grill, its a cold air intake funneled in from there. The hood scoop is there to give the intercooler cold air, its what its there for, not for intake.

No this is the intake...... Lol the intercooler!!!! That would be in the very front of the car at the bottom!!!! Thats the whole point of the hood scoop on the hood the faster you drive the more air it takes in...
