Making a Boomerang from a Yard Stick

This video shows how to make a boomerang for throwing in a backyard with a Menards Yard Stick. We use 2/3 of the stick, so you can get 3 boomerangs from two yard sticks.

Instead of just having a rubber band, how about something to join them tightly together? Like a screw, glue or something else?

More sanding more smoothing. The current Menards yardsticks are thicker than the used to be, so this will make it a little less aerodynamic.

I tried this, but couldn't get it to work. I'm a lefty, so I sanded it opposite of yours. I tried throwing it sanded side towards me then out. The best I could do was to get the boomerang to make a horseshoe shape in the yard but landed 30-40 feet from me everytime no matter how hard or soft I threw it. I even used the same store brand yard stick you used. Any ideas?

Excellent videos Kendall! You never cease to educate me. Thank you again :) I'd like to see you make a short vid for a paint stick boom. There are a few out there but they're all missing something.

Cheers

Im pretty sure the Aborigines only use belt sanders when making boomerangs.

And hey, worked for over 40000 years that way, so don't mess with tradition!!!
