A classic example of a self-indulgent, self-conscious, mannered, operatic take on religious music. For a much more artless, sincere and spiritual performance of the work try Aafje Heynis.

I think personally , would be nicer if music was a little quieter so it didn't drown out the beautiful voice which is the main feature of the song.

I agree absolutely. Hey at least she doesn't overdo the vibrato or volume. Have a listen to Streisand singing this to hear just how sensitively if can be sung - its on youtube

I am a classical musician, I sing and play the works of GFHandel and I know this work is not by Him, but by Siegfried Ochs who was a music publisher, and composer, who wrote it in the style of Handel and then said he found a lost work him.

Hmmm. I don't know for sure, but that seems realistic. Nevertheless, I think it is a beautiful piece.
