What an excellent interpretation of this aria. It may be out of character for some, but overall it's musical and technically correct.

In my opinion, he doesn't attack this aria. He sings very fine 4 bar legato phrases with intensity and a full dynamic range. He also sings a very beautiful and impressive mezza voce high E at the end.
