it is not fake, it is just to complex for your brains to understand.this is an older version of what we can do now,the test person is not preforming the music he is controlling the tempo.

It's not fake.. just misunderstanding what he is doing. He is just changing the tempo and loudness of the music with his mind, using "learned" triggers.
But possibilities will be endless in the future with this technique.

The speaker said that the computer *composes* the music based on the result of the analysis of the signal coming from the EEG, so I don't think I misunderstood anything. I know for a fact that there are simple commands you can send this way to the computer, so what you said might be true and the speaker might have simply misspoken. As for possibilities with this technique in the future, they will depend on the user's ability to focus his thoughts and the machine's algorithm for signal analysis.

Ok, for that part you could say it's "fake".

Classifications for brain wave signals is getting better every day, of course there is a traject for the subject to learn to work with the system.

I am currently developing a BCI system which allows you to play Guiter Hero with your brain! Same sort of tricks, triggering "buttons" with simple "intentions".

He is not controlling the notes being played. He is primarily controlling the tempo and clips being played, and those only indirectly.

When he relaxes, the tempo slows and the computer chooses slower music, when he ramps up his thought processes , the tempo increases and the clips are more boisterous.

Controlling individual notes is a ways off primarily because of the human element - when was the last time you thought of 3 to 6 things all at the same time.

At concerts in the future, the Maestro will just sit down with a brain cap on and control a whole symphony of musical instruments with his mind. Directors of the future will wear their brain caps and simply imagine the whole movie, no actors or camera men neccessary.

Yes the song is pre recorded in the computer,,but by learning how to direct thought,,triggers of thought can trigger the computer to play the song. The concept of a direct thought note from note to actual playing,,and it sounding good as a composed song is a ways off. But still its impressive, since when you press the key on a computer keyboard you dont have to do all the other calculations and run all the other programs that make the key appear in say a word document, same difference. Nice vid!
