Only on his death bed he give phase...when he got back to the United States, he called them cowards. It wouldn't of been prudent for a white man wanting to be President of these United States, to declare they were saved by a bunch of Negroes. Guess he wanted to make right before meeting the creator.

The buffalo soldiers were not written out of history. In particular, Theodore Roosevelt had great prase for the 10th Cavalry in Cuba.

How do you keep a people down? You never let them know their history. The 7th Cavalry got their butts in a sling again after Little Big Horn, fourteen years later, the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. If it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, there would of been a second massacre of the 7th. Read, and visit site/history, rescue at pine ridge. com

Strode was terrific in this western. I saw this as a kid and have always remembered his performance. This and other shows and books about them encouraged me to want to learn more about them. The Buffalo Soldiers provided a valuable service to those on the frontier and they deserve every honor. Thanks for posting this.
