Well here's me playing the amazing ( Batman Returns for the Mega/SEGA CD. The 1st game to really show the power of the system, thanks the genius programming skills of a certain John O'Brien. While XJ220 was the 1st Mega CD that I can remember using the ASCI chip inside the Mega CD for the whole game, Batman Returns was really the 1st game to push the system.
All the press would love people to believe , that it was Thunder Hawk/Thunder Strike, that showed what the Mega CD could do, which always annoyed me, as Batman Returns came out months before Thunder Hawk, run at full screen (unlike TH) , had a better frame rate update, it used the full colours pallet of the Mega Drive (unlike TH), had more Parallax scrolling, plus a great semi 3d effect on the sides of the buildings, which gave them depth and made them look so solid. So don't always believe what you read, this really was the game to show the Mega CD and it had a better engine, that's to the Mega CD genius that was John O'Brien, how I think runs a coffee shop in Ireland, which to me is such a waste of quite brilliant programmer (he also wrote some great engines on the Mega Drive and ST act).
Its just a shame SEGA never saw the talent this man had and singed him up to handle Mega CD ports of Outrun, Power Drift, Super Hang On, instead of going down the FMV route. What ever, I will always be thankful to John O'Brien for his genius work on the Mega CD, he along with GameArts really pushed the Mega CD to its limits and made great games to boot. Batman Returns remains one of my fav games, it presents a rock hard challenge, with a simply suburb music score to boot

From what I can see the reason TH was held in higher regard was because of the brighter colour pallette. This game just looks plain drab to be honest. Don't get me wrong though, from a technical standpoint it's great!
