What's all this talk about him not having a career? I first heard him on a recording of Le Villi - Puccini's first opera. He was a standout. I heard him live many years later singing Nabucco. What he didn't have was a recording contract or a berth at the Met.

Manuguerra - one of the great baritones. Wonderful to see and hear this. Thank you for posting.

Qualcuno diceva che Manuguerra abusava dei suoni nasali. Ritengo questa critica ingiusta e irrispettosa della sua grandezza.

Here's a REAL voice! A superb Rigoletto at the Metropolitan and a wonderful Nelusko in Africaine at Carnegie Hall, NY, with the American Opera Society, 1972.

Manuguerra (1924 - 1998; a French citizen, born in Tunis of Sicilian stock, trained in Argentina!) was the real thing. Memories!

This guy is in the same league as Korea's greatest Dramatic Baritone: Koh & my all time favorite Romania's Nicolae Herlea! Full sounding "Verdi" baritones w/out making much effort! We need more of these guys!
