The most gorgeous initial phrase of this aria I've ever heard- the "fu" alone is worth buying a recording of this... Miss Ferrier always seemed to convey deep emotion without a hint of preciousness.

Interesting to note that Caruso also sang Serse "largo" on
pre-electric 78.
But yes..Kathleen's voice was made for certain music at
which no-one and I mean no-one can compare.
