Clearly he was very ill or not in a sound state.. Nonetheless I still find this compelling

Wunderlich may have bettered him singing this particular piece, but I invite you all to hear Bjorlings rendition of Adelaide. I think you'll find it superior

Do you all not hear that the emotion is still conveyed though? Sure maybe it isn't his best singing. However the purpose behind it is still there. Which is why he sang on a bad day instead of just quitting.

This isn't a tenor aria, but anyway, Bjorling does not sing it well. He was always extremely true to all notes and all the composers wishes. Perhaps he felt that tenor voice was wrong, anyway I've seldom heard him as bad as this.

Bjorling if often compared to Caruso but comparing their performances in this piece shows the unbridgeable gulf.
