That must be why there is a cut to Cugat's orchestra during the number. Astaire almost never had cuts away from a number. I always wondered why it happened here.
i've read that during the 'shorty george' rita tripped, fell and was knocked out. i think it was that trick move i'd seen photos of, but since it's here, that fall must have happened during filming. fred changed the dance for the final film. the wonderful, exquisite dance at the end was to follow fred's singing of the title tune, 'you were never lovelier', but was cut out after the previews by the studio, can you believe that? the whole number may still exist today in sony studio's vaults!
the last dance we see and the part of the shorty george in the trailer dont appear in the movie.Someone know why?,and if the last number would be only a litle coreography for the trailer?....Roman from buenos aires
