I started collecting soul records about 3 years ago. I dig the soul, rnb, jazz, blues and rock and roll b4 elvis.
one thing I noticed real fast, was that the versions on the cd's have been redone. it's a shame in the way the record companies that now own the volt, stax, atlantic recordings do this to those recordings. throw out your cd player and ipod. if you want to hear the music the way it was ment to be heard, you gotta buy vinyl.
If I had the money to buy the appropriate equipment, I would have uploaded my entire vinyl collection by now. Unfortunately I cannot afford it, nor I can afford an ipod... not yet. I agree with what you say, but some rarity, as surprising as that may sound, are really hard if not impossible to find on vinyl. That's when CDs come in real handy for the purpose!
ah, but now is the time if you collect vinyl. 1. Boomers dying off 2. kids sell their stuff at estate sales (the kids think it's all beatles and elvis this is worth money)everything else they seem to sell for 0.25 an lp be patient another year or two and every holy grail lp will be hitting the fleamarkets and thrift stores. maybe I should keep my mouth shut about it. so I can get them all!
check out my videos, I've got around 75,000 records!
Man i hope your right because i've been collecting nearly 25 years now since i was a little kid & some of this shit has become really tough to find over the past few years. I used to go to goodwills and thrift shops way back in the day and there were always nice boxes to go thru. Now everytime i go in my town it seems like i'm digging thru the same junk records i donated like a year before. Your right about patience is the key b/c every once in a while you the goldmine
We have all this big deal stuff now days but it was so much better back then.....I hear kids whine about CD being better and many are going back to old record....reality never changes.
