Taken from the Rite of Strings live at Montreaux 1994. Just another reason to worship Stanley Clarke

Edit:01/05/2007

Perhaps I should also mention the section at the beginning and throughout the rest of the performance is borrowed from his Spanish Phases for Strings and Bass from his self-titled album

There is no doubt in my mind that Stanley Clarke is the greatest bass player of all time , this footage is testament to his unbelievable talent " is Stanley Clarke the Jimi Hendrix of the bass or is Jimi Hendrix the Stanley Clarke of the lead guitar" , whatever your view they are two inspirational musicians who are on another musical planet ! Respect

I 100% love stanley clarke and this vid, but DON'T name a contrabass an acoustic bass. I play an acoustic bass and I love it, but this is a contrabass (or upright).

calling an upright/contrabass an acoustic bass is pretty funny in a retarded way. I play acoustic bass.

still of course this is brilliant, it's clark! but the instrument he plays belongs to the classical instruments that exist for over a hundred years or so...little bit of an insult ;)
