You kinda have something with the "finding a cd on the floor" analogy, but really, you can't escape the fact that you KNOW it belongs to someone else, and that really you should be paying for it.
It's more like finding a CD on the ground, and you know who it belongs to and that they probably still want it.
I was more or less saying, I didn't express myself correctly, that it's like finding a CD on the floor that someone else put in there since he doesn't want it, and he wants someone else to find it. It's pretty much like that, people do basically that same thing when they post download links. I hope that's clearer now.
Well sure, the guy who puts up the download link might want someone else to find it, but it's not that guy's choice. The artist owns the music, not the guy putting up the download link.
Sure, he bought the CD, but by putting it up for download, the net result is STILL that hundreds of people get access to the music without paying for it. Which is stealing.
Yeah, but it's still the same thing, of his own free will he's giving it to everybody. And please tell me you've never technically "stolen" a song by your definition, that would be lying. And seriously, it's really not stealing, imagine it as free distribution.
I mean, imagine you're a musician, and you've just put 3 months of work into releasing a new album. Now imagine like 50% of all the people who "should" have bought your album just downloaded it off a p2p client.
p2p client? I just download from googling it or wherever I can. And I wouldn't really be that worried or upset at all, since I know at least they're listening to my music and some who can't pay for it, are getting it for free. I have no problem at all.
