why is the internet so unpleasant? Can't people just buy the product that works for them, and be happy with it? People take it to the point of tribal rivalry based on which product they choose, hating and bashing people who don't side with them. I'd call it silly, but you know it goes without saying.

excuse me? If i want a product that focuses on high quality sound and video, and i don't give a shit about having the internet in every place and every cafe everywhere, then i'll get the S9 and forget about apples.

and i don't need some late 20 something from halfway around the world _who i don't even know_ telling me i got "owned", or whatever, as a "kid", so fuck off asshole.

Let's examine the situation here: first, you post the extremely smug, '...buying an ipod is paying for the brand, fashion...' then come back with your 'iPods are for people who browse the internet, JetAudio is for people who care about audio quality and OLED screens. Different products work for different people.'

So, which is it? Are iPods for trendwhores exclusively or for people who prefer the DIFFERENT FEATURES OFFERED BY IPODS THAN OTHER DEVICES?

And, on the whole, I agree with you - the Cowon is in many ways preferable to the iPod, for the deity-like levels of battery performance that it has, the easy to read OLED, and the excellent sound-quality that it operates at.

That being said however, it's absolutely ridiculous to just automatically say that definitively the iPod touch is the worst product for the price/capabilities. The iPod has a plethora of apps designed for it, multiple touch screen, and fantastic web browsing and support.

Caps lol
it's both of them and plenty of others; ipods are indeed for trendwhores, but not exclusively. i don't think of a person as a 'trendwhore' for owning an ipod, and other people buy them for different reasons, such as what you mentioned. it just depends on what the individual wants.

what i meant was i think a large percentage of what you pay for an ipod, goes towards the brand/design, and not the quality of the product itself, i.e. hardware used
they are overpriced

Overpriced compared to what? It's only pocket change more than the s9. It's much more money than the Samsung P3, the iRiver SPINN, or the iVu Espresso, but for sundry reasons, those are *far* inferior products to the Touch.

As I see it, the Touch is expensive because it is simply a top-tier product (much like the S9). While yes, iPods run an attractive ad-campaign, they also have built a truly remarkable product.

i don't think so. the user seems to hover over a button before pressing it, if you watch carefully. when he presses it, it seems to respond instantly. But it looks like there are cases where it's a bit slow, like browsing through photos
