I honestly think this character could have carried the movie. However Sam Rammi has said he hated Venom as a character. It's sad how some directors opinion of a character will make him destroy a whole movie just to spite people that like the same character.

That is not true at all. Raimi never liked the character but he never wanted to destroy the movie to spite people who liked Venom. The only reason Venom was shit in the movie was because he didn't have enough screentime. The movie was destroyed by Avi Arad who forced Venom into the movie.

Raimi was trying to do the people who liked Venom a favour. He didn't have to include Venom in his film but he did to try and please as many people as possible
