Well, you assume that the Chinese aren't worried about the repercussions to them if the US defaults on the loans or simply starts printing money.

Besides, if this is really about power politics, look at the comparative strengths of the militaries, and the influence each wields globally. No comparison.

It's the same situation as 20 years ago with the USA and Japan, and the USA is still the dominant one.
