Toringo6, I agree with you. Similarly, "Silent Night" was originally composed with German lyrics ("Stille Nacht") and there are now lyrics in Spanish ("Noche de Paz") and English etc. Similarly there is nothing wrong with singing Adeste Fideles both in the original Latin AND in the widely known English language version. (Pax hominibus bonae voluntatis, i.e., Peace to men of good will---but not (alas!) to a large (and cranky) percentage of the folks who post on You Tube)
Feliz Navidad y próspero año nuevo a todo el mundo. Ojalá que este año llegue la paz a todos los rincones del planeta. Desde Málaga, España, que seais felices todos.
@AlbertoCulla: What is a Latin song? The composer of the song John Francis Wade was ENGLISH. He composed the song (with Latin lyrics) about 1743. So it is an English song with Latin lyrics. The English lyrics originate from 1852 (translated by Frederick Oakeley und Thomas Brooke). It was often sung in the chapel of the Portuguese embassy in London (vide Wikipedia).
I do not defend "anglocentrism" as I am neither English nor British. I like the song in Latin, English, German ...
Very nice, especially Carreras. I just don't understand why they sing a part in english. This is a LATIN song! Stop this stupid anglocentrism! Let's sing english songs in english and latin songs in latin, please.
