Sun worship was practiced by ancient Uyghurs. The tombs of Kroran(Kroraina, tarim basin mummies)are in the shape of a big shining sun(they could be dated back to 4000 years ago). There are other relics that found from those ancient Uyghur cities depict the sun as a deity.
Sun Worship, religious devotion paid to the sun either as a deity or as the symbol of a deity. Sun worship was practiced by the Iroquois, Plains, and Tsimshian peoples of North America and reached a high state of development among the Native Americans of Mexico and Peru. The sun was also a Hindu deity, regarded as maleficent by the Dravidians of southern India and as benevolent by the Munda of the central parts. The Babylonians were sun worshipers, and in ancient Persia worship of the sun was an integral part of the elaborate cult of Mithras. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the sun god Ra. It appears in several early cultures, notably in ancient Egypt, Indo-Europe, and Mesoamerica, where urban civilizations were combined with a strong ideology of sacred kingship, in which kings ruled by the power of the sun and claimed descent from it. The imagery of the sun as the ruler of both the upper and the lower world, which he visits daily, was prominent. Sun heroes and deities also figure in many mythologies, including Indo-Iranian, Greco-Roman, and Scandinavian. In late Roman history, sun worship was of such importance that it was later called "solar monotheism."

I love uyghur culture and music. But I also love animals. I will become happy if the sound from the dap comes from a plastic and not from dead animal skin.

Their ancestors were not different. Their ancestors are the same.. Both people derived from old Uyghurs. By time some of Uyghurs did not become Muslim but maintained their former belief, so they became Yugurs. Those Uyghurs who adoped Islam retained their Uyghur name but were highly intermixed with Qarluqs ( another Turkic people) and assimilated them.
Uyghurs in Tarim Basin intermixed with Qarluks and adopted Qarluq type of Turkic language. And qarluqs living with Uyghurs adopted the name Uyghur for themselves.
