I love the soprano soloist! In most of the recordings I've heard, the soloist takes a huge slide down to the rest of the choir. But I loved the decrescendo the soloist took to make it blend. Gah, Eric Whitacre is a genius!
Eric Whitacre is a genius, I love ALL his pieces, I've sang many of them in different choirs :) but I think that this one is my favorite.. it gives me chills everytime, and I've even cried while singing this in my end of the year choir performance last year.. 10/5* all the way
If you think these are hard choral pieces, the arrangements for wind ensembles are even harder - since the chords are so dissonate it makes it hard to tune. Believe me, I've played October. It's very easy technically wise but blending and tuning is intense.
ugh. i envy you :'( my band ALMOST played October last year! it would've been my first solo as a freshman baritone player. but after a while, my directore said we just couldn't play it because some other sections weren't good enough to do so. it was beautiful while it lasted though
This is a beautiful video to go along with this gorgeous song. We're doing this song this year. We did Sleep last year. His songs are so beautiful and genius. They are incredible. I am a frist soprano and it will be a great piece for our choir!
what do you mean JUST an alto? I'm a first soprano, but I'll admit that altos have to work much harder than sopranos because they have all the difficult harmonies, I admire altos!
