The Good Life was made by the BBC, not Thames.

Indeed! It was used from 1969 to 1989 and is the longest continuously-used ident on British television (possibly even in the whole world, but I'm not sure about that - does anyone know?). There were some very minor tweaks over the years (e.g. a 'ripple' effect was present in the water until the mid-70s and the last few notes of the music changed subtly around 1972), but never enough for most viewers to notice. I think the reason it lasted so long was that it was bloody good!!!

I beg to differ, but Anglia had their knight on a horse and the tune that was going for almost 30 years

When THAMES lost its franchise, that was the start of the decline in ITV. Today the top shows on ITV are made by THAMES and not ITV.
