Excelente vídeo. Mark é um grande guitarrista e compositor.
Creio que essa melodia é a melhor que ele já compôs em toda a sua carreira.

Through these fields of destruction, Baptisms of fire, I've witnessed your suffering... We're fools to make war, On our brothers in arms...

WHO is fools to make war???????

Not the other side, but US. (from the perspective of the author)
Could it mean the monguls destroying every village? The palestines firing after a cease fire? Civil War?
Sure.
If this was simply an anti-war song, which it isn't would he bother writing in the comradery of soliders? Doesnt that aspect of war seem too noble for an anti-war song?
If you were to write an anti-war song would you mentioned the freedom the Iraqis have now n the death of Sadam? prob not

Isrl/Plstn wars still have no end even today. Should they be fighting? No, but that question isn't good enough. Theres a fundamental difference between how Palestines think. They literally want to destroy Israel, should Israel lay down their arms? Or is it more 'conflicting' than that?

The lyrics don't reflect the 'foolishness' of war but its cost. Important distinction. Mark seems to have a better understanding of the fighting in this world, he doesn't deny its causes but clearly points out the tragedy that arises from it. Consider the reasons for wars. Consider the Mandela concert he played at. Who can stop the military from abusing its powers? In that case not the people. It was written more about the Isr/Palstn war though. If you understand the conflict, you'll know more
