Los Kjarkas is a Bolivian band from Capinota, one of the most popular Andean pop bands in the country's recent history. Their most popular song, "Llorando se Fue", where some of the basic melodies and harmonies are based on Bolivian popular music in the public domain. An unauthorised translation of the song by French producers; Jean Karakos and Olivier Lorsac resulted in Kaoma's hit, Lambada. After a successful lawsuit, Kaoma paid up and licensed the song.
