i had some polish coworkers telling me how things were better when it was a workers state because they had jobs and free school and free healthcare. damn right!

They still have free healthcare (it sucks big time as all "free" things do but still is of light years better standards than it used to be in the 80s) and freeschool (which they dont use much).
They still have jobs if they want to. Most industry they worked in was set up and kept just for a sake of creating work places not to produce or create anything. And if somabody dare to question the Party rights and logic ended up in prison or sometimes (fortunately rarely) dead. It was communist country

And how old are your polish coworkers cuz if tehy are younger than 45 they know shit about working in industry those days. They were in primary school.
Counterrevolution started because the goverment implemented Martial Law not the other way round. Poland at that time was run from Moscow. people who were runing it and their warsaw pupils were just a bunch of disgusting filthy rich assholes who denied some 400 millions people the right to be who they wanted to be and where they wanted to be.

I can see that you haven't tasted your beloved socialism on your own skin... I have and I dare say it sucks... But fortunately you don't live in 'socialism' and you have raight to say what you think. And that was what Walesa fought for.
