To me her music is the ultimate acquired taste. I usually don't like her albums at first but I've learned that with patience I will fall in love with them. That was especially true with White Chalk. I was angry the first time I listened to it. What happened to the force of nature I had been listening to for 15 years?! Now after letting it digest it may be my favorite album of hers.

Yes, often the music that you grow to really love was difficult at first. One of the great things about PJ Harvey is that she keeps moving so we haven't been given ten reprises of "Dry"
