SHE IS JUST THE BEST....
Never ever heard the interpretacion of the"Im Abendrot" so good. Bought LP than CD and still listening to it. For all do respect to Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, I miss the breath and the sound of "t" on the end of the frase.Fantastic Jessie.
20 years of giving me the "gooes skin" and tears when I listen to YOU..

My interpretation of this song;
or this poem

makes for me the way of singing by Jessye Norman
more intensive/warmer and more expressive
than the somewhat hardness that I feel in the
voice and intonation by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf

always thought the sound representing the larks was overly obvious and disrupted the tone.

The best performance of the "Vier leztze Lieder" is by Elizabeth Schwarzkopf (she made 2 recordings, and the two are so beautiful, really perfect). But I do like this great song by Jessye Norman. Kurt Masur is fantastic too...

Ms. Norman has no equal! But every singer has something to offer . Scharzkopf , Fleming Caballé Harken and Nilsson all have given me goose bumps!. But again Norman is wonderful and she is one of my all time favorites.

There is so much beautiful music to recommend (Tallis' Why Fumth in Fight - Stile Antico) but after listening to this recording for some twenty years I still feel it is the closest I will get to heaven.

Many great singers have these Songs in their repertoire,and I have several of their versions in my collection.
In my humble opinion,Ms Norman's versions set the standard,and all the others merely make up the numbers.
