I think I hate dumb movies as much as I hate very brilliant AND boring movies, such as this one.

So true, but you can always relearn an art. It isn't something that can die. It isn't like a language made up of sounds. It is a universal passageway to a different realm. A realm that is more magic and intriguing than any other thing we could imagine. Other than drugs of course.

the main character turns out to be dead at the end, which suggests the afterlife is simply a lucid dream. but the logic is circular, because he had been dead that whole time without realizing it, after "waking up" several times from "sleep," so the question remains what is the difference between being awake, alseep, or dead, if you really can't the difference? does consciousness transcend our understanding of life and death? what role does sleep play? the film tries to explore all these themes.

you guys are over analyzing ONE aspect of the movie. yes, it is about dreaming, but it also presents many philosophical questions about how dreams relate to real life, what life really is, how our concept of "consciousness" relates to what "consciousness" actually is or is not, what happens after you die... this is really a beautiful tapestry of many concepts really just designed to get the viewer to think. t
