The town of Bad Kreuznach is the home of the following tourist attractions: * The Bridge Houses that are built on the bridge that crosses the Nahe River in downtown Bad Kreuznach along the walkplatz. * The Pauluskirche, or St. Paul's Church, where Karl Marx was married (to Jenny von Westphalen) in 1843. * The Kurhaus (built 1913) is a hotel and bath house. The baths which give the town its name contain radium, with supposedly curative properties. * The Dr-Faust-Haus (built 1507) was the home of Johann Georg Faust, the alchemist on whom the Faust tale is said to be based. * Kreuznacher wine is well known.

I was a military spouse, my husband was assigned to a gsu on Khuberg hill and we lived there from 89-91. We lived in an apt. across the street from the German park near the school. I worked at the bank and when we got the new building, I baked a 7 layer cake shaped like the new bank complete with foyer and atm machine for our grand opening. It did get somewhat tense during the Gulf War, but I loved BK and I have left a piece of my heart there, so I do plan to go back for a visit.
My husband and I were stationed in BK from 1972-1974. He worked at the 56th General Hospital in the OB ward and I ran the Stars and Stripes bookstore in the basement. Man we had some good times! We still want to return some day - even though our oldest daughter has! She took pictures of our old apt and the hosp. Weird! I actually recognize some things!
I was stationed there from 99 to 2001, and my wife's parents live in the surrounding area. It is amazing how much it's changed there. I was last there in October of 2008, it looks totally different. Rose Barracks and the other kasernes have been handed back over and are still in the process of being converted into whatever the city decides to use them for.
