Well they the only company still competing with Intel and over the last 5-6 years they have cot up a lot with a lot with Intel. If its wasn't for AMD, Intel would be charging what wherever they whetted for they CPU's. They might not be as good but they keep the competition going in the CPU market.

you havent seen a difference? are you trolling? I went from the 8 core fx 8150 (shit) to a i7 3770k and I have never made a better decision. i7 is a beast. I don't know what your talking about.

My i7 3770k (stock clock) with a Corsair H100i and 2 noctua nf-p12 running at max (1300rpm) and pump at max, I only idel at 40C and max out at 70C. My AMD FX 8120 that I OC to 4.1ghz with a Corsair H60 ideled at 30C and maxed out at 60C. I got the 8120 for $150 and the 3770K for $230 (on sale). I have seen no performance upgrade when gaming, (crysis 3, battlefield 3) and all i got was a hotter cpu for more money. Was using Asus M5A99X Evo. r2.0 and ASRock Z77 Extreme4.
