help me!!! I keep using the FUZZY SELECT TOOL, but it just keeps creating the background as white!!!!!! It keeps doing it!! how can I get the background as nothing?!?! (A.K.A. the black and gray tiles.)

This comment is now three months old but just in case you still don't know or anyone else has the same question, right click the layer in the layers palette and click add alpha channel. Additionally, you can create a new layer and as the layer fill type select transparency.
