http://unboxing.gearlive.com - In this episode, we open up the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) XO-1 laptop computer. The XO-1, previously known as the $100 Laptop or Children's Machine, is an inexpensive laptop computer intended to be distributed to children in developing countries around the world,[1] to provide them with access to knowledge, and opportunities to "explore, experiment and express themselves" (constructionist learning).[2] The laptop is developed by the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) social welfare organization, and manufactured by the Taiwanese computer company, Quanta Computer.

Cheep PCs and laptops are at least $500- so I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Plus they give one to a child in another country! It is so awesome that they even started making computers for kids (it's about time). This is not a toy- this is a real computer people- two of them at around $50 bucks each (one donated)! I think this company is only making enough profit to come out even. I only wish there were more caring companies out there.
of course thats what its for... that laptop must have like 128mb of ram, under 1ghz cpu. they made them cheap so kids in other countries that cant afford our nice laptops have something they can use, i think its a great idea
