No it doesn't. The chords might be similar/the same but the vibe couldn't be any more different if it wanted to be.
Chord sequences are always going to be reused, there are only so many. What really counts is how it sounds and feels.
I would also like to say that the essra mohawk tune has the worst, pretentious, nonsense, bucket of crap lyrics I have ever had the misfortune to hear. The whole song is complete self masturbation. Couldn't be further into her own arse.
Hi Willie, I respect your opinon re Essra Mohawk's "I Have Been Here Before" and Crosby's "Deja Vu," which btw, is the biggest hit he ever wrote, I believe. But, since when do fame and talent go hand in hand in rock n' roll??? Arguably, Essra solo-wrote Cyndi Lauper's "Change of Heart" which was # 3 so according to your paradigm, she'd be the winner. Take care, Frank
Well said carloscarlos13!!! This is a great example of how underrated (by some) Stills is. His guitar work on this song is out of this world!!! Awesome.... some of his phrasing is phenomenal, he is up there with the best of all time for me!!!
Carlos2, You say "composer" but are you aware that David based this off of Essra Mohawk's "I Have Been Here Before" - if you listen you will see how similar they are. Essra is most known as the writer of Cyndi Lauper's "Change of Heart" & Tina Turner's "Stronger Than The Wind."

I rest my case..
