Harpo Marx - Don't make a sound! (Duck Soup, 1933)

Whatever you do, don't make a sound! Shouldn't be too difficult for Harpo :) Don't miss Harpo playing the strings of the piano!!

Weird, my comment is getting some thumbs down. I wonder why, I knew Harpo wasn't mute as I had seen a very old interview with him as to why he and his wife adopted so many children. I actually researched why he didn't speak in the movies and passed on that information. So why the thumbs down on factually researched information, and thumbs up on "I heard", "I think", and "I guess" comments?

i found an audio clip of harpo talking in an interview on the radio or something like that. it's not fake either. it's the real thing.

Yeah...they inprovised a lot of material. Everytime they did a stage show, they would change the act to see what got the biggest laughs. Then they would use the funniest bit in the movies, but, still seems like they improvised a lot.

I heard that Harpo didn't speak cuz he could never remember his lines. So, his brothers told him to just be quiet and he developed this brilliant clown persona.

I'm pretty sure it was because of a review about the brother's play saying that Harpo was brilliant in pantomime but ruined it every time he opened his mouth, so he decided not to do that anymore

I read somewhere that harpo had a brusque Irish accent when he spoke. Is that true?
