Totally right what you said, especially about Bohemian Rhapsody, the greatest song aver made, even if ''Happiness Is a Warm Gun'' by Beatles can be considered as its ancestor.
So yeah, I would have to agree with you there. Also in their favor is that they never faced the internal friction that the Beatles had, if Freddie was still alive theyd still be going strong today.
But for some reason Rolling Stone hates Queen, I don't know why, maybe because they're all a bunch of hippies stuck in the 60's. Queen isn't even on the list of the best 100 artists of all time, simply unbelievable.
Queen were also better live performers than the Beatles, they electrified the audience like no one else could. Live Aid is proof of that, Elton John himself said they stole the show, it was voted as The Greatest Live Gig Ever.
Give Queen credit of the greatest song ever written as well, no one can really contest that about Bohemian Rhapsody.
I think the only category the Beatles wins is in popularity and influence, but keep in mind that Queen is the 5th best
I think the only band that can really compete is the Beatles, but I think Queen is the better of the two.
Creativity and originality goes to Queen. It's not even really close, considering that the Beatles stuck to their rock roots but Queen experimented with gospel (Somebody to Love), pop, rock, opera, and funk.
Queen had more technical skill, Taylor being far more skilled than Starr, May a better guitarist than Harrison and Lennon, Deacon a better bassist than McCartney, and Freddie the
Arguably the greatest band ever. Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and Brian May regarded as legends....
....and as a measure of the bands greatness the least known of the four John Deacon wrote "Another one bites the dust", "i want to break free", and the base riff for "under pressure" (that vanilla ice ripped off).
Their extensive back catalogue, incredible live performances (they owned Live Aid concert, ahead of U2), and the talent of the four... contenders for greatest band ever.
I didn't know roger can do duble bass 0.0' Then again this and Seven Seas of Rhye are my fav Queen songs. Oh and RIP Freddie...You are and were the best.
