If you want to keep true hip hop alive than purchase their records and go to their gigs to keep them afloat so they can survive while producing records. Someone I know 'DOC Brown' who is a seriously good mc in the UK has quit music for comedy because their was no money in music. Such a shame.
Don't download because this in reality is killing the thing that you ultimately love. Be proud to have that record in your collection once again

Just look up artists like atmosphere, ugly duckling and kero one- seriously they are extremely good and represent true hip hop. The shit you see in mainstream has a target audience of people who just want to hear a beat and someone talking- club rap, and it's popular. People who don't have a keen interest in music do not want to hear someone being mind grippingly intelligent on a mic- You have to accept that the majority of people are thick and don't like change.

and also it actually doesn't matter if your white or black or whatever when your listening to hip hop in general- it may matter what artists you listen too because their are a lot of black artists who speak about black culture which white people can't relate . I assure you tho their are plenty of true Hip hop artists out their right now who mcing better than anyone else before, classic hip hop is in the past to appreciate but the present 'real' hip hop is here to experience and develop

why are people talking about race. If anyone on here actually knew anything about the culture of hip hop of today it's about respect, representing and unite. I'm a music journalist and love all genres of music and from my experience of hip hop festivals like in czech republic or san bernardino and countless gigs seeing artist's like cypress hill, immortal technique or brother ali, my experience is that it's a place where all race and cultures can mix together. Peace is the word,
