I first heard this in 1986 as a sampled beat in Sweet Tee's seminal hip-hop single "It's My Beat." At the time I had NO idea is was by the soul godfather himself James Brown, until a couple years later. Between James Brown and Zapp, I think the hip-hop nation the last 25 years has sampled JB most.

yo this funk-beat influenced almost every music style since it came out, i hear it all the time in new school hip hop....but damn, i love it!!!

1970...but only as a King Records single until the Polydor compilation LP pictured in the video came out in '86.
