no a black man would of not have made it in the 50,s back when racism was so strong and the black singers was not getting any recognitition and elvis stepped on to the scene and alot of radio stations would not play his music becuz he sounded black he opened the door for black singers and many are very grateful it is not elvis fault for the color of his skin he had a love of music like anyone else and he made a difference with a style all his own elvis was not only about color he was about MUSIC

THANK YOU!! Im doing a project on Elvis, and it doesnt fail to amaze me how many people believe he was racist. I just dont get how someone who grew up around Black Americans and learned from them could be racist.

That is absolute bullshit. what about people in the 40's who were black and getting played a lot. Elvis didnt open the door for anybody the door was already open. there were black actors on screen. All Elvis did was fuse the music together and create a new sound.

I dont think his color has to do with anything he alone ,any color is an awesome singer ,entertainer it is what he bought to the music industry while things were tougher back then but it still does not take away the greatness he has the power in his vocals his abilities to be so versatile with his voice from a low love me tender to a high an american triology & the person he was off stage no matter what color he was he would always be elvis the way god intended him 2b
