Somebody should tell Joe that welfare is not Socialism. Welfare is a concession by the capitalist state to what would otherwise be the revolting masses displaced by capitalism and the coercive enforcement of private property.

That's all well and good as long as there is hard work to do, but when you have 2000 people applying for a hotel job, there just isn't enough to go around. Welfare has its place, and as long as it is not abused it helps a lot of people in transitional stages - They are usually on for three to four months and then they get out and "work hard" at a job they find after they "work hard" just looking for a job.

Welfare are for those Americans who fall on hard times. You liberals are just god damn lazy and irresponsible and want to leach off the system forever.

Most people do not "leach off the system forever" and there are plenty of non-millionaires who work their 40 hours or more a week and still get called "lazy" for it. That would be like saying that inheriting the family fortune is "hard work". Thanks to Clinton there is basically a 5-year limit for welfare anyway. It isn't the career choice it once was - Sheesh!

I was on Welfare for 3 months back in 1990 and went out ,got 2 part time jobs and then welfare naturally reduced my cheque according to earnings and then when i scored my present fulltime job got off of it and never looked back. I have lived a success story from those days and appreciate the help at that time having to care for 2 children on my own.Thats the way the system is supposed to work. ;o)

Well, then Joe the Plumber needs a kick in the ass for receiving welfare, doesn't he?

Well then let's deal with thenegative aspect of it, by having revisions, or putting hard limits on how long people can be on welfare, but Don't toss the baby out with the bathwater.
