Are you kidding? Lou Reed>Pavarotti any time. A perfect voice cannot beat an influential songwriter who inspired generations. Pavarotti's performance just doesn't fit the song anyway.

Marybeeable, maybe Pavarotti LIKED THE SONG?? Maybe Lou was overwhelmed with being on the same stage with Pavarotti and a world-class orchestra performing one of his compositions? As far as walk on the wild side,he was hired to score a Broadway adaptation of that over-aged Chicago Hippie Algren's peice of shit that flopped and Reed kept his song.. CRAINIAL_RECTAL INVERSION!!!

If anyone cares, I am aware that Pavarotti has most unfortunately passed away. It just shocks me all the more that Lou Reed (is he still alive - I really do not know) is allowed to blaspheme both the talents of Nelson Algren, who wrote the wonderful short story athology Walk on the Wild Wide, and the once-in-a-generation singing talent of Luciano Pavarotti.

Can someone explain to me why Lou Reed got a gig with Pavarotti? My 12-year-old daughter sort of sings OK - think he's available to sing with her??

It's a flat, mellow song... It's not all about tearing the shit out of a song on a Thursday night Kareoke session to see who can sing the most noisey!!
