Imhotep Radiant Oscillator --My Replication ---Part 2

This a continuation of my exprience with the Imhotep Radiant Oscillator. I show here the difference in lighting and current draw between a regular 12 volt flourscent light and the Imhotep Radiant O...

I tried to open from imhotep but it state that this video is not available in ur country.

I would really appreciate if u could provide me with the link. Thanx.

lidmotor i have a emhotep lite setup and i have 5A of draw.. wat can u suggest to get this number down to say 200mA??? can i use a heavy duty pot instead of rheostat??

dodoshlodo- The high amp draw can be lowered by placing a small neo magnet on the side of the relay. If you use a 25 ohm rehostat (Radio Shack $2.50) to control the situation, then it has to be heat sinked and expect it to burn out. Buy a couple. A regular carbon pot will not work. You can also use a 12v car tail light bulb as a ballast resistor in series at the source line. It is the cheapest and easiest solution. It is called the "Mart Hale bulb". He invented the idea.

i really dont like the relay, i bought a heavy duty one for refrigerators and it died after i left it on for 15 mins... plus they are way too noisy.

What method do u suggest to do the timing? 555 timer circuit, Bedini self oscillating circuit, Aromaz self osc. circuit??? wats worked best 4 u?? also do u have a link to the Bedini self osc circuit??

as for the rheostat, they are really hard to find here in Australia, the main electronics shop here in aus does not have them... strange..

In the mean time I'll try the 12V bulb, I've seen Marthale's vids... I have been following this project for a while now, man u have really gotten far in such a short period of time!

Actualy, I dont get the point. If you use Imhotep system, you use 1A x 12 V = 12 W. At the same time, you tried that other bulb whitout any system, you was using 0,23 A x 12 V = 2,76 W.

So basicly, your CFL was not even that bright as that other light, but CFL still used near 11 times MORE energy, that whitout any system other bulb. You got my point? :D

Yes I totally agree. This was early development of the light system. It got a lot better later on. The thing to remember is that this method recovers some of the energy being used by capturing the BEMF off the coil.

Great Work Lidmotor,

For future reference, Imhotep's user name is pronounced "Eem oh Tep" (all one word) - I believe this is the name of an Egyptian deity.

Keep going!

cool, im gonna do a replication too.. do u find the relay dies quickly? I thought they didn't handle high frequencies very well..
