YCDTOTB "You Can't Do That On YouTube"...wow, how original. Gee...that wouldn't be a reference to a kids' tv show that was on the air about 20 years ago, now would it?
I used to watch "You Can't Do That On Television" when I was a little kid, by the way. It was lame, but pretty funny at the time. I wonder if anyone here even knew about the show and understood the reference.
Hey Chris, I hope people remember YCDTOTV. it was a great show that built to national networks, Nickelodeon and YTV. And it was made in Canada. Way back when Roger Price offered me a job writing the show but by the time I moved to Ottawa the show was canceled. So we are keeping the show alive and it's just a lot of fun to make.
When was it cancelled? I watched it on Nickelodeon around the mid to late 80s I think. Like maybe from about 1986-1989. In fact, "You Can't Do That On Television" was probably what really got Nickelodeon started. I remember when they had commercials for Nick as "the first network for kids" and they had whole themes built around YCDTOTV, like going to the stuidios and "getting slimed". LOL...when I was a kid, I did want to meet a few of the actors.
Yes the show ran in Canada from 1979 to 1987 then Nick picked it up around 1983/83 then canceled the order for the next season April 1987. Then it was back by popular demand from 1988 to 1990 then it was all reruns.
I haven't talked with him since 1987. But I will ask him if I happen to find out how to get a hold of him. The last I heard 1991 he was living in Malta writing film scripts.
