After a Green party rally attended by about 80 supporters on the platform of the Parry Sound train station, Elizabeth May's VIA train pulled in after 7:30. It had been expected around 4:00, but was inevitably delayed. Everyone crowded the platform. They put out the steps and Elizabeth burst from the train in an explosion of energy, enthusiasm and excitement. What an historic moment, as previous candidates, such as John Diefenbaker in 1965 and Pierre Trudeau in 1974, similarly ran the rails visiting whistle stops across the country.

  • Charisma AND a conspiracy theorist!

Did you hear what she said during the televised debates about an international financial organization ordering Canada to close hospital beds?

    COME ON NOW!

She's also sold her soul to Stephane Dion, something with her LONGTERM party faithful are VERY upset with.

Some of the executive are talking about leaving the party...

Ms May is a mistake, like Dion, at worst, and at best a gimmick.

  • I have yet to find a party, leader and policies that fit me and my views.

I believe, however, having seen her get off the train and launch into talking to us, it was very charismatic. That does not mean I agree with her. We can analyse the performance separate from policies.

I think they are all running on adrenaline. I agree that selling Greens to the Liberals, and saying that Greens shouldn't strategically vote "except in a few places" was a HUGE mistake.

  • Great person , can someone tell me why the left does not get together and have a huge meeting hash out the differences and join a big union to fight Harper ,the Reform got smart and did it , we divide ourselves and they win. We need Harper and Tony Gone , and as an ndp supporter I am voting lib , as statistics show jamie has the best chance of taking him out.

  • Ms. May has charisma. I am close to someone who voted for Mr. Harper when he was Reform (over 2 elections). He no longer agrees with his platform, as a fiscal conservative nor the Conservatives. I think they risk diluting their policies, messages and leadership. I simply cannot agree with the Green Shift. I do not agree with strategic voting!

  • You are welcome! It was great fun. I felt badly for those waiting in TO, in the dark!

  • You are most welcome! It was a great event.

  • Loved the video. My wife and I were waiting in Toronto until 11 pm before the train arrived--along with hundreds of other supporters. By the way my wife and I lived in Parry Sound in 1970.

    Thanks for posting!
